DragonPunch's News

As much as I like games trying to be realistic as much as the next guy (I don't), one would think studios would use their talents and technology to build more colorful games, while trying to be realistic, yes? WRONG! Instead, when we expect colorful masterpieces like Danger Joe, Mod Nation Racers, Little Big Planet, Borderlands 2, and some others, we get stuck with Battlefield 3, COD MW3, COD BO2, and other bland shooters.

Gaming industry, look. I know realism is fun for you and sells more games. However, PLEASE, oh PLEASE stop using the same damn color palettes. It was fun the first freakin' time (Gears of War, I am STARING STRAIGHT AT YOU, YOU MUDDY ASS FREAK), but now, we're over mud-brown, turd black, rusty car red, and military warehouse grey. Would it kill you to add more color THROUGHOUT your games, please (no, having Nuketown in the first COD Modern Warfare does not qualify COD as colorful; what I mean, is having more colors presented throughout the experience)?

Instead, you leave us gamers who want something pretty and awesome to look at in the dirt and think we're too stupid to know when we're being ripped off. Infinity Ward. I don't want Modern Warfare 4. I want Call of Duty: Space Warfare set in the year 4000 AD, with characters fighting on multi-colored planets with many diverse landscapes, and the ability to customize your armor color. Oh wait...Halo beat ya to it, I am afraid. Oh well, better luck next time. Hopefully, you won't resort to making a Halo rip-off. That goes for Metal Gear Solid 4 as well. If Metal Gear Solid: Revengeance does not have multiple colored presentations, with more than just the usual turd brown and steel greys, I will NOT buy it. This is why I like Zone of the Enders so much. It's made by Hideo Kojima, but it's more bright and colorful and diverse.

So gaming industry: I have no idea why you're obsessed with wonderful colors like turd brown and blood black (Gears of War...How did you mess this up). But it needs to stop. Start trying to be more creative please. Your games are fun for a lot of people, and I am sure I am missing out on the Wonderful Turd-Brown Colored Adventures of Generic Soldier X 4,956. But, here's the thing: That's okay with me. You, Infinity Ward, should be offended. And ashamed...Or whatever comes first...

TL;DR: More games like this please.

With the best of luck,

HiryuGouki

Dear Gaming Industry: More COLORS PLEASE

Mostly to see Tiny Tina in action. She sounds hilarious! But yeah, Borderlands 2 looks like a great Looter Shooter that even I can get into, even though I am a fighting game junkie, so yeah...That's a thing...Piss Tiny Tina off, and she'll eat your babies...Yeah...

Want Borderlands 2...

Awesome story cover is awesome...Anyways, I am also writing scary stories, so if anybody would like to contribute a story, this could be a collaboration of some sort! I would love to get some kind of project going with this while I work on my art as well. This would be very interesting if let's say it became so popular that flash movies were made out of it (looking at RedMinus) *hint* *hint* *wink* *wink*.

Writing Horror Stories As Well!

Hey guys! I am planning on drawing a new project, but am using a different technique this time. I still plan to draw each and every element on their own separate piece of paper, BUT, when it comes time to use Photoshop, I will take another picture of a blank piece of paper as the canvas. Each individual element will then be cut, saved as .pngs and will then be put onto the canvas. Anyway, the project in mind is:

An Amazonian warrior, lunging at a golem, with mighty ax in tow. The golem is looking back at her, seeing it's about to get smacked. Whilst, a giant spider is lifting its arms preparing to strike from the right flank of the amazonian. From the left flank, we have a sabre-toothed tiger, roaring with murderous rage on the site of a ruined temple. I will post the rough sketches of the concept for the amazon, golem, spider and tiger later.

I am happy to say that I have settled on a design for the wings! Here they are and here is a preview of what may come.

Further Progress Has Been Confirmed

Well, I have finished the figure at long last. Now comes the wings and the background, THEN the animation! Oh, and the chair of course. How could I forget that? Anyways, wish me luck!

Step Two: Finishing the Figure

This is a news post to inform you how I work with my drawings. As you can see from the picture below, I am currently working on the lineart for the drawing, which is done using the pen tool. I then select the lineart layer using Ctrl + CLICK and go over it with a larger brush in order to give that natural line look to the drawing. I will upload new steps as I make progress. Therefore, anyone who wants to say that I trace will EAT their words (well technically, I trace over the sketch that I myself drew; I can provide proof of that too)!

So yeah. This is pretty much the first step to all of my drawings. I'll try and use the "Color the lines" technique for this one, and animate the eyes, and make a roaring fire mess with the shading. I've got big plans for this piece.

Step One

Happy day!!!

Look. I know I have been re-scouted. I am only asking for a few things. Just because you can zero-bomb me, does not mean you should do it out of spite at me. I think you should be fair in your voting. Judge the score based on the overall quality of the piece. Also, before you throw me into a rage fit and get me unscouted again, I would like that you critique fairly, not based on my past, present, nor anything stupid I do in the future. I ask that you vote, score and critique based on the QUALITY of my art, not my reputation. You can zero-bomb; but I only ask that you leave a review when you do. I know that's asking for a lot, but please do me the courtesy and I will be pleased. I would like to know what I can do to change as a user, and possibly change about the art in question before getting zero-bombed. It would do me a lot of favors, and would help me become a better artist in the long run.

I look forward to receiving QUALITY, encouraging, and INSPIRATIONAL critique that's well thought out.

I am being polite here. I expect the same courtesy, again not because of my reputation, but because of my efforts to change as an artist. Be polite, courteous, and DO NOT SWEAR on my reviews from now on. That's all I ask. I know this is asking for a lot, but you owe me the courtesy after doing nothing but abusing me for the past year and a half.

I am not going to be egotistic, so long as you respect me. I am not asking for ass-pats, I am only asking for genuine thoughtful critique, and I shall respond in an agreeable, respectful manner to you. If I disagree with something you have said, I will politely address the issue in a mature fashion.

I appreciate your courtesy. Let's make my profile a little bit friendlier TOGETHER and watch as I improve as an artist and an individual. Thank you for listening.
